Homemade Garlic Breadsticks Recipe
Homemade bread is heaven on Earth, think of it when it’s garlicky..! Who won’t enjoy a super stringy-cheesy fresh garlic bread with a cheesy dipping sauce. This recipe is my personal favourite, my younger brother suffers from fits of Garlic Bread Sticks cravings [sce emoji=”laugh”/]. I am sure you’ll enjoy this blog because even I am laughing while writing.
My recipe is inspired by Domino’s Garlic bread sticks recipe not because it’s the world’s best Garlic Breadsticks ever made, but it just made me surrender by conquering my taste buds. Although, this recipe comes out to be way better than the dominos have.
If you’re also a domino’s lover than you’ve landed in the right place.I’ve learnt almost all my loved dishes to perfection and I, no more have to go there to feast, at the same time they inflated their prices like mad so I just don’t consider their products a value for money anymore.
We'll talk about these things one by one-
- The texture and taste of Homemade garlic bread sticks.
- The perfect seasoning mix.
- The super cheesy dipping sauce.
Let’s begin with the texture and taste of bread as usual :
Bread is bread, we all know how it is…so why are we discussing? Thus, this bread is not an invention. A little understanding of the taste and texture can make things simpler so that even a beginner or a young baker can also reach the level of perfection in the very first attempt, hopefully.
These garlic breadsticks are having a rich texture not as airy as regular bread but also not dense at the same time. They are chewy and the added seasonings create a magical aroma. They are light and soft from inside, whereas the crust has a crunch which is coming from the cornmeal dusting at the time shaping of the dough in the final step. Cornmeal also refines that pricy golden colour defining the top part.
The perfect seasoning mix for perfect flaky homemade Garlic breadsticks recipe:
The mix of herbs and spices are delectable. It is the heart of the dish, even if you make a perfect dough but slips on this part then it’s gonna ruin the entire experience, trust me on this!
The herbs and spices are regular, not from a different planet.[sce emoji=”bandit”/] still they turn out to be outstanding when interfused with the yeast dough. The seasoning includes a variety of dried herbs like rosemary, basil and oregano, regular ones no?Black pepper and garlic powder give a kick to the taste with chilli flakes being an apple of one’s eye.
Garlic bread is waste if not flavoured with oodles of butter in the dough as well as in the seasoning mix which we’ll be brushing off before popping them into the oven.
The super cheesy dipping sauce:
The cheesy dip will kill you at a snail’s pace, no no don’t be scared. I am sure all my cheese lovers will consider this as the best slow-poison in the world.
I am madly in love with the taste. I can eat like tons of it. I mean, people are picking up E-cigarettes to retract smoking, What do I do man, How to create E-cheese????
Well, it’s simply a mix of three things processed cheese-milk powder and milk and yes obviously cold and salted butter.
For more information on the cheesy dip, you can refer to this guy’s website (Bharat kitchen) he has mentioned the recipe it with many other methods too. Although, I used a less time-consuming and an easy way.
I think it’s time to start of with the Ingredients.
Homemade Garlic Breadsticks Recipe
- 500 gm All purpose flour
- 4-5 gm Active dry yeast
- 1.5 cup Lukewarm water
- 4-5 cloves Garlic
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 4 tbsp Olive oil/ Refined Oil (Pomace oil)
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 4 tbsp Salted butter
- 1 tbsp seasoning
Seasoning and Spice mix
- 1 tbsp Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tbsp Dried Oregano
- 1/2 tbsp Dried Basil leaves
- 1/2 tbsp Rosemary
- 1/2 tbsp Chili Flakes
- 50 gm Processed Cheese (Amul)
- 1 tsp Milk Powder
- 1/4 cup Full-fat Milk
- 1 tbsp Salted butter
- Activate the yeast
Take lukewarm water, add sugar and yeast, mix well. Keep aside for 10 mins to activate the yeast.
Making the dough
- Sieve all purpose flour in a vessel.
You have to divide it like 60%-20%-20%
Now take a separate bowl and add the 60% of all-purpose flour, salt, olive oil, melted butter, seasoning, garlic cloves and water.
Knead the dough for around 5 minutes. It will be sticky at this time
Add the second batch of 20% and knead again for 5 minutes.
Now, add rest of the flour and knead for 10 minutes more. Kneading is a must here to get that desired texture of the bread.
The dough must be rubbery and stretchy by now and also smooth. All that kneading is to develop the gluten in there.
Let the dough rest for around 2 hours in a warm place. Don’t forget to brush some oil on the dough and as well as the vessel where you are keeping it.
Cover with a cling wrap and give some relaxation to those beautiful hands(in case of ladies only).
After 2 hours, the dough must be airy and has proved by doubling in size. Divide into 4 equal parts and let it rest for another 15 mins covering with a damp cloth.
Now, Dust the table top with cornmeal generously.Take one portion of the dough and roll it into a form of a circle by hands or by a rolling pin, easy peasy.
At this point, if you want to make a stuffed cheese garlic breadsticks. Go ahead and fill the half part of a circle with grated mozzarella cheese and flip over the other part making a semi-circle out of it.
Dust cornmeal on both sides, this is to get that pricky golden colour.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees with the pizza stone in it.
Now, make slits at a distance of 1/2 an inch, so a total of 5-6 slits.
Brush it up with butter induced with seasoning mix and chopped garlic. You can choose your kind of herbs, no restrictions.
Pop it in the oven for about 10 mins in the middle rack at 180 degrees, and at 180 degrees again for another 5 mins but this time in the uppermost rack.
O la la.. You’re done!
Instructions to make cheesy dip
- Take a pan, add some water, Flame On!
Take another vessel which can sit on top of the pan, making a double-boiler setup.
Add processed cheese cubes, melt it, meanwhile add milk powder and keep stirring adding milk little by little. Keep stirring. It will take about 10 mins to get that thick cheesy consistency and that deep cheesy flavour. The dip is ready to dig in.
You can also blend the mixture to attain that ultra smooth consistency just like market ones, but that will make you clean your blender jar, that may be a little painful and time taking. So, I am leaving it to you.
Instructions to make Seasoning mix
- Take a pestle and mortar, add all the ingredients one by one mentioned in the ingredients section and mix well. Your seasoning is ready.
